Farmers' Insurance - Policyholder Class Certified
STOLL BERNE represents a class of policyholders who allege they were charged more for insurance based on their credit scores, but did not receive the notice required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
On June 26, 2008, Federal District Court Judge Anna Brown issued an order amending the class definition. The class will now include claims against Farmers Group, Inc. and the class period will extend from September 28, 1999 to September 28, 2002. The court also ruled that to be a member of the class, the insured's renewal premium increase must have been larger than any general premium increase. The court also appointed Carol Porto, Leo Newberry and Evelyn Broeffle as class representatives.
